Job Summary
We are a high-volume, comprehensive ophthalmology practice with a subspecialty focus in glaucoma, seeking a collegial locum ophthalmologist to join our team. Our clinic is an accredited UBC training site, offering opportunities to teach medical students and residents.
The role offers a balanced mix of surgery and clinical work. A typical week includes two OR days ( Cataract, glaucoma and ambulatory for minor procedures) and 2.5 clinic days. Every 6-8 weeks, you’ll have a GA OR day, adding to the ample surgical opportunities if you so desire.
Our modern, cloud-based office uses Telus Med Access EMR integrated with Zeiss Forum and advanced diagnostics (OCT, Humphrey VFA, IOL Master 700, Topographer). You’ll be supported by a skilled team: 2 COAs, a diagnostic technician, and a surgical counselor to streamline patient care and OR coordination.
Expect to see 40–50 patients daily, including new consults, follow-ups and urgent referrals. On-call is 7 days every 5 weeks, with in-office slots reserved for emergencies and after-hours calls routed through the hospital switchboard.
Our downtown clinic and hospital are just 10 minutes apart. We’re located close to a seaplane terminal (30 minutes to downtown Vancouver) and our major airport with access to national and international flights.
Compensation includes: 65/35 billing split (including diagnostics), 100% of after-hours on-call billings, 6.25% rural retention bonus on all billings.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who values surgical volume, teaching, and working in a well-supported, modern setting. Dates of locum are flexible. Reach out to learn more or apply today! Contact: [email protected]
