Academic Comprehensive Ophthalmologist – Department of Ophthalmology, Kingston Ophthalmology & Vision Sciences Centre

The Department of Ophthalmology at Queen’s University is seeking an Academic Comprehensive Ophthalmologist to work at a department run clinic on the west end of Kingston, Ontario. (Kingston Ophthalmology and Vision Sciences Centre – KOVSC). Qualified applicants will hold an MD degree. Successful candidates must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario and preference will be given to applicants who have specialty certification from the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) or the American Board of Specialties.
The Department has an excellent residency program in Ophthalmology (with 13 residents). The Department enjoys an excellent reputation for employing innovative and enthusiastic teachers for learners at all levels. Preference will be given to applicants who have a strong track record or exhibit strong potential for clinical, surgical, and didactic teaching.
Opening in 2020, the clinic is well-equipped with the latest in diagnostic equipment (IOL Master, Pentacam AXL, OCT) and YAG laser, and the practice will have access Hotel Dieu Hospital operating rooms, consistent with all other faculty. The Department is highly-innovative and is involved in new models of eye care delivery (including e-Consults, tele-ophthalmology, and remote real-time diagnostics). The Department has a strong research culture that is supported by an in-house research team. Preference will be given to applicants who have a track record or exhibit potential for innovative and scholarly research.
The successful candidate will receive fee-for-service funding, with appropriate levies applied for the use of resources. Academic rank will be commensurate with experience.

Medical Retina (MR) Ophthalmologist, Greater Toronto Area (GTA)

Located in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), Clarity Eye Institute (CEI) is looking to recruit one (1) full time medical retina (MR) Ophthalmologist to fill an immediate vacancy. As the largest private Ophthalmology office in Ontario, CEI is a 7 site, nearly 30 MD / OD practice that services a catchment area of 7 million patients and 13 Ontario hospitals. CEI houses every major subspecialty except for pediatrics as well as providing optometric services.
Successful candidates will develop his / her own independent ophthalmic practice at CEI, and will be responsible for hospital on call coverage, as well as covering for emergent patient care during colleague absences.
Position: Medical retina (MR) and cataract surgery. The Ophthalmologist will have successfully completed a fellowship in medical or surgical retina. Services will be rendered at least two (2) CEI locations with a focus on Newmarket, ON. Resources include the latest in laser and imaging technology. Cataract surgical resources are also available. The Ophthalmologist will be accredited and receive resource allocations of a minimum of 120 annual cataract surgeries at a peripheral GTA hospital. Additionally, CEI offers a full scope refractive surgery and private cataract surgery suite (via our sister company, Lumea) which the successful candidate is welcome to access. For the interested Ophthalmologist, proctoring in the latest refractive surgery and premium intraocular lens technology is available through the CEI founders.
The candidates must be eligible for independent practice licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario and hold certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Ophthalmology.

Glaucoma Service Director, Ophthalmology – Loma Linda, California

Loma Linda University Faculty Medical Group, Department of Ophthalmology, is seeking a BC Ophthalmologist fellowship trained in Glaucoma Surgery to join our full-time group of ophthalmic subspecialties and generalists as the Glaucoma Service Director. Ideal candidates will currently be at the academic rank of Associate Professor or eligible for promotion to Associate Professor level. Responsibilities include patient care, resident teaching and supervision, medical student teaching, coverage and call for subspecialty members, service level meetings, recruitment strategy and other service items. This includes the development and oversight of a Glaucoma fellowship.
We have a very busy group practice with satellite locations in Riverside, Banning, Rancho Cucamonga, and San Bernardino in addition to our main location in Loma Linda. Our group provides professional services at the Riverside University Health System as well, where we have an active resident training program. Compensation & Benefits
The compensation range listed is for starting base compensation only and is adjusted based upon years of experience and/or faculty rank: $280,000 – $320,000. This amount does not include variable compensation or extra productivity and is subject to the individual department compensation plans. Comprehensive Ophthalmologist – Vancouver, BC

The Ophthalmology Department at Vancouver Hospital Eye Care Centre and the University of British Columbia are seeking applicants for the post of comprehensive ophthalmologist.
This position provides admitting and operating privileges at the Vancouver General Hospital and operating privileges at the Eye Care Centre as well as access to the Eye Care Centre treatment room and shared lasers. The successful applicant will be part of the clinical faculty of the University of British Columbia, and are expected to remain in good standing. Resident surgical teaching is expected during allocated OR time, following the guidelines of the university department.
An established record in comprehensive ophthalmology is not required, but the department will prioritize candidates with a vision for how they will enhance current departmental education for both residents and medical students. Applicants for this position may have completed subspecialty fellowship training, that may expand their core general ophthalmology services, but the expectation is that they will practice as comprehensive ophthalmologists and should not anticipate access to additional resources usually restricted to subspecialty care.

Pediatric Ophthalmologist – Alberta Children’s Hospital, Calgary, Alberta

The Department of Surgery, Alberta Health Services – Calgary Zone and the University of Calgary invite applications for a Pediatric Ophthalmologist at the Alberta Children’s Hospital in Calgary, Alberta. Required qualifications include a MD, Fellowship in the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Ophthalmology and a minimum of one year fellowship training in Pediatric Ophthalmology, along with eligibility for licensure in the province of Alberta. Special training and/or interest in pediatric ocular oncology or oculoplastics will be an asset.
The successful candidate will be expected to have a clinical appointment with the University of Calgary, Cumming School of Medicine, Department of Surgery, and to participate in medical student and resident teaching. Full pediatric ophthalmology clinic service will be provided on site at Alberta Children’s Hospital. The candidate will be expected to participate in retinopathy of prematurity screening of neonates at NICUs across the city. In addition, the successful candidate will have a call obligation in accordance with both the Alberta Children’s Hospital and Alberta Health Services policies.
The successful candidate will become a member of both the Section of Pediatric Surgery and the Section of Ophthalmology. Committee duties and active participation in the sections is required.
