Job Summary
The Waterloo Regional Eye program at Waterloo Region Health Network – Queen’s Blvd in Kitchener is expanding its subspecialty surgical retina program and recruiting a full-time retina surgeon to provide the highest quality medical and surgical care to patients in our community. The successful candidate will have access to regular main operating room (Proveo 8 BIOM 5 and Alcon Constellation system), hospital-based fluorescein angiography, and hospital eye-clinic time. Subspecialty training in surgical retina is required.
Waterloo Region Health Network – Queen’s Blvd is a 153-bed adult acute-care facility and the regional centre for ophthalmology subspecialty care with a full complement of subspecialty surgical services including glaucoma, oculoplastics, retina, and cornea. The hospital has a fully equipped eye-clinic (PASCAL pattern scanning laser and indirect, Optos widefield imaging and IVFA, ABSOLU A/B/UBM scan, SLT/YAG laser). Ophthalmological consultation services are also provided at Waterloo Region Health Network – Midtown, a 567-bed facility in Kitchener that serves the Waterloo Region. The successful applicant will join our team of 10 ophthalmologists in Kitchener-Waterloo and will provide regional consultation and retina on-call services (1 in 2 retina on-call) in the Waterloo Wellington Region. Anticipated start date will be summer of 2026 with some flexibility.
Applicants should have certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and demonstrate excellent clinical and surgical skills. Applicants must be eligible for a full independent medical license in Ontario. Applicants will be expected to provide references.
