I am seeking a surgical glaucoma locum for my practice in Halifax, Nova Scotia starting mid-May 2026 for approximately 8 months.
This is a community based glaucoma practice with hospital privileges, in an office shared with two other ophthalmologists. Our office has two Zeiss Humphrey visual field machines, as well as a Cirrus HD-OCT, and IOL Master 700.
On average, one day per week is spent performing glaucoma/cataract surgeries at our Eye Care Center in the Victoria General Hospital, which is about a 10-15 minute drive from the office. One full day per month is spent doing cataract surgeries at the Halifax Vision Surgical Center, which is actually directly connected to our community office.
Two half days per month are spent doing lasers at the Victoria General Hospital. There is also access to a fully equipped minor OR at the hospital, as well as any additional testing/equipment that may be required (ex. Bscan, IVFA, fundus photography etc).
There are 3 other glaucoma specialists in the city, as well as a number of other sub specialists (cornea, retina, neuro-ophthalmology, uveitis, pediatrics, oculoplastics), making for a very well rounded and supportive department.
Call is shared amongst all non-retina colleagues, and is typically one week at a time, every 3-4 months. Our hospital is an academic teaching site, with a full complement of excellent ophthalmology residents, as well as a surgical glaucoma fellow.
Halifax itself is a wonderful place to work and live, with a beautiful waterfront and many excellent restaurants. You would be here at the best time of year to enjoy all that Nova Scotia has to offer!
