Vancouver Coastal Health’s Division of Ophthalmology is hiring two General Ophthalmologists at Lions Gate Hospital (LGH) in North Vancouver, British Columbia (BC).
The division at LGH is currently comprised of five surgeons. The proposed positions provide admitting and operating privileges at Lions Gate Hospital. Clinical responsibilities include participation in the ophthalmology on-call rotation, preoperative and post-operative assessment of cataract patients, performance of cataract surgery, and the diagnosis and management of ophthalmic emergencies. The positions are for 0.5 FTE with a 1/7 call requirement.
The operating room environment at LGH is primarily configured for day surgery, with a focus on cataract surgery. While fellowship training, subspecialty interests, or additional clinical experience are considered assets, subspecialty surgical activity is not currently available at this site. Candidates must have completed an accredited Ophthalmology residency program and be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC. Fellowship training or equivalent clinical experience is an asset. Applicants must demonstrate a strong commitment to patient-centred care, quality improvement, and collaborative practice within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.

Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) – Required
Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) – Desired
Current College of Physicians of BC (CPSBC) – Full
Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) – Mandatory
Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC) – Mandatory
Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada (FRCSC) – Mandatory
Surgical Skills – Mandatory
