The Department of Ophthalmology at Queen’s University is seeking an Academic Comprehensive Medical Ophthalmologist. Qualified applicants will hold an MD degree (or equivalent) with specialty training in ophthalmology. Successful candidates must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario and preference will be given to applicants who have specialty certification from the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) or the American Board of Specialties.

The successful candidate will be a comprehensive ophthalmologist. They will be expected to provide the breadth of care within ophthalmology including but not limited to seeing and caring for routine cornea, retina, glaucoma, oculoplastics, uveitis, pediatrics, and neuro-ophthalmology cases as well as perform cataract surgery, laser surgery, and minor procedures.

While this will be mostly a clinical position, being an academic position, the successful candidate is expected to: provide teaching to medical students, residents and fellows; be involved in research; as well as perform some of the various administrative tasks required of the Department (leadership roles, committees, etc.). Regardless of subspecialty, comprehensive ophthalmology call coverage is expected and shared amongst the members of the Department in an equitable manner.
