The Department of Surgery – Calgary Zone and the University of Calgary invite applications for a Pediatric Ophthalmologist. This position would include hospital-based practice and community-based practice. Required qualifications include a MD, certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Ophthalmology. The candidate must have completed a minimum of one year fellowship training in Pediatric Ophthalmology. The anticipated start date is July 1st, 2026
The candidate will be expected to commit to pediatric ophthalmology care, both clinical and surgical at the Alberta Children’s Hospital. There will be access to operating time at the Alberta Children’s Hospital, Rockyview General Hospital and Chartered Surgical Facilities in accordance with section policy. The candidate will be expected to participate in the retinopathy of prematurity screening. The successful candidate will participate in the ophthalmology on-call.
There is an expectation for academic contributions in the form of research, education and administration. The candidate will be expected to collaborate and support the existing pediatric ophthalmology group. The successful candidate will become a member of the Section of Ophthalmology and the Section of Pediatric Surgery. The candidate will be expected to apply for a clinical appointment with the Cumming School of Medicine.
