Glaucoma Visual Fields Workshop

This course has both didactic and interactive components and is intended for practising ophthalmologists, residents and fellows. After learning the basics of visual field testing participants will be shown a series of normal and abnormal visual fields and be asked to determine if the field is reliable and identify relevant pathology. A short presentation will also take place on how to evaluate visual fields for progression using event and trend based approaches. Participants will then be shown a series of visual fields be asked to determine whether or not progression is occurring.

Objectives
At the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Describe when and which visual field test to order.
  • Interpret abnormal static perimetry visual fields.
  • Outline various methods to assess progression with static perimetry (e.g. Humphrey).
