North Toronto Eye Care is seeking a MEDICAL RETINA SPECIALIST to join our established, busy, and well-respected ophthalmology practice in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Locum tenens: Comprehensive Ophthalmologist

Dalhousie University and Nova Scotia Health Authority are seeking a qualified comprehensive ophthalmologist to fill a temporary practice vacancy. The locum tenens position is available September 1, 2017 to February 28, 2018. Preference will be given to candidates with previous working experience as a comprehensive ophthalmologist. The successful candidate will possess excellent clinical and surgical skills for both adult and pediatric cases. Clinical and surgical teaching will be a component of this position. He/she should be certified or eligible for certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and be eligible for a full medical license in the province of Nova Scotia and for attending privileges at the Nova Scotia Health Authority. This will be a temporary Dalhousie limited term appointment at the level of Lecturer, for the period of the locum. Halifax, the capital city of Nova Scotia, has excellent educational and recreational facilities.

This is a well-established fee-for-service oculoplastic practice in a regional tertiary care centre with no other oculoplastic surgeon within 400 km. Required qualifications include B.C. licensure, CMPA coverage, Canadian ophthalmology specialty certification (FRCSC) and Oculoplastic Fellowship. The practice is currently focused on treatment of functional disorders in a new public facility providing ample operating time and diagnostic services in a dedicated eye centre. The private office is also fully equipped with diagnostic and surgical suites. There is a significant opportunity for expansion into private cosmetic service. The region’s medical school also offers a teaching position. Existing sub-specialties include anterior segment, pediatric and retina services.
